Installation Technician

Installed Internet Modems, Digital Voice Modems and Cable TV Boxes for Comcast’s Commercial Business Service.  If customer did not have Comcast service in the past, I would have to run Underground or Aerial drops to the customer’s premise.  Then I would have to run inside wiring inside the customers premise, whether it is a Commercial Home Office or Commercial Business Building.  This job required the knowledge of Identification of POTS phone numbers in order to transfer customers phone service to Comcast’s Digital Voice Service for businesses. This job required the knowledge of terminating wire pairs on a 66 Punch Down Block and installing Phone Jacks. Also, required knowledge of using digital meter to test coax signal levels in order to calculate signal levels to standard for installation of services.  Another duty that I had to do is to do pre-fields of future jobsites, in order to survey and write survey results if possible to do install or if jobsite needed construction for plant extension before installation can take place or any complications that an installation of services will encounter.

July 2005- July 2006 Volt Telecommunications Group (Contract with SBC for Project Light Speed)San Jose, CA

Field Technician(Splicer)

As a Splicer, I installed a Buried Mount Terminal (BMT) using either a case or Kold-N-Klosure to enclose the open splice.  Installed Fixed Strand Mount Terminal to replace the old Ready Access Strand Mount Terminal.  Installed a Pedestal Strip to existing Telephone Pedestals in order for the working telephone pairs and drops to have a binding post within the existing Telephone Pedestal.  I installed Strand Mount SLIC Closures to replace the old rubber bag and lead case aerial closures.  I also had to Cut Out Bridge Taps (COB) from existing buried and aerial terminals in order to recondition the terminals for the Light Speed Project.  I also had to do Trim-Outs from splice junctions in order to dedicate the telephone pairs to cable counts as specified by Telecom Engineers.  I also had to do Short Testing and Ground Testing using the Tempo SideKick T&N Test Meter for the purpose of data for the distance location of the existing terminals.  I had to do Time Domain Reflection Testing (TDR) in order to check the working telephone pairs did not have any Bridge Taps on the line.  As these job duties are being done, problems will arise causing telephone outages.  I had to troubleshoot these telephone outages in order to bring the telephone outage back in working service.  Along with the job duties described above, I had to make sure that the paper work like the Running Sheet and As Build were completed and done correctly for the jobsite.  When new employees were hired and assigned to my crew, I would train them to get them ready for the job duties required for the Telecom Splicer position.

July 2006- November 2006 Bayside Solutions (Contract with Hamilton Pacific)Hayward, CA

Lead ATM(Automated Teller Machine) Field Technician

The responsibility of this position is to de-install an older model ATM machine from a Wells Fargo branch or offsite and to install a new Wincor envelope or envelope free ATM machine.  With this position I had to know how to surf the alarm panel to find the zones for the Door, Vibe and Heat alarm sensors for the ATM machine.  Know how to look into the Loop Expander to find out what Alarm ID the ATM machine is set on, whether the alarm is connected to the Loop Expander or hard wired in it and just using the Loop Expander as a junction box.  Call the Alarms Department for Wells Fargo and set the alarm in Test Mode and call the Wells Fargo Command Center to set the ATM machine to Not Inservice Mode.  With all that done and the machine is balanced out of cash, I can disconnect the alarm, camera, datacom and power connections from the ATM machine.  I can then physically de-install the ATM machine and install the new model ATM machine.  To install the new machine, I would have to level the ATM base, set the new ATM machine on the base.  Splice the alarm wires for the new ATM machine, set the ATM ID in the Loop Expander and connect any other wires for the zones in the Loop expander.  I would have to set the sensitivity switches on the Vibe sensor of the ATM machine.  Connect the camera, datacom and power; then power the ATM machine on.  Check the software configuration of the new machine and change configurations if necessary.  Call Wells Fargo Command Center to bring the ATM into Start-Up mode and run the Software Test Script to make sure the ATM is running properly.  If ATM is not running properly, do necessary troubleshooting to fix ATM or to escalate the problem if beyond my capabilities to solve the problem.  Then I would test the alarm sensors and call Alarms Department for Wells Fargo to see if they have detected the tests to make sure the alarm is working properly and get it certified.  Then I would call the Camera Department for Wells Fargo to see if the camera in the ATM is working properly and get it certified.  Once that is all done, I would ask the Wells Fargo branch to load cash into the machine and train the manager to set the new combination for the Kabamas Lock of the new ATM.  Once cash is loaded, I would demo how the new ATM worked by running a withdrawal and deposit transaction on the new ATM.  Once that is all complete I would do the necessary tasks to complete the job site by doing general construction work such as, tearing down walls, putting up the ATM surround, caulking the surround, screwing the surround onto the brackets, painting the wall, taking off and putting in new tile or carpet around or under the new ATM and so on to make the job site looking neat and tidy.  With all of that going on at the job site, as a Lead ATM Technician I had to delegate job duties to other crew members, coordinate with management and other contracting vendors to make decisions for the job site and also train new employees.  Once everything is completed physically, I had to fill out the necessary paperwork for the job site to get an approval that the project is completed to the specifications of Wells Fargo and my company’s management.  I would also have to take before and after picture of the jobsite for documentation purposes for Wells Fargo and my company.  I have done ATM projects here in Northern California’s Bay Area, Colorado and Southern California.
